politicsWell, Republicans. You won.
Your party controls the White House, the Senate, and the House. You are not facing a hostile supreme court. At this point, nothing can legally stop you for the next two years. The best any opposition can do is to throw a fillibuster to slow you up a bit. Frankly, if you let that stop you, you don’t really want to accomplish whatever goal is being stopped.
Your opportunity is now.
You have two to four more years to prove to the American people that your goals will create a better society, a better world.
I’m skeptical, but my skepticism doesn’t matter. Here is your chance to prove that the fears of people like me were unfounded.
Where ever we see the next four years take us, for good or for ill, it is on your shoulders.
Please make it good.

Please do something instead of blaming the democrat’s for your phuq ups.
They own it now. They can’t blame Clinton, but they’ll find a way to blame someone. President Bush doesn’t make mistakes, you know!

That is the trick, though, isn’t it. They’ve got a Republican legacy and a Republican government.
If Rove can convince the American people that whatever happens next is NOT the responsibility of the Republicans, then I guess we deserve what we get.
I just hope enough of our civil liberties are still around that we have an election. I dread that my son won’t make it to the next election. He turns 18 next year and at this rate, I suspect we will be instituting a draft in several years.
