Possible Serious Mistake on Hatch
On Mike Hatch for governor, I previously stated:
“Hatch probably wouldn’t be too bad, but I can’t support a guy who sent a bunch of Somalis to their deaths.”
I
am having trouble finding verification of this. It may NOT be true. The
story was that he caused some Somalis who were illegal refugees to be
deported back to a country without a government and where they would be
killed upon their return. While a couple of the stories have been
turned up, Mike Hatch’s involvement has not been confirmed.http://citypages.com/databank/24/1196/a

Thanks much for taking the time to find those links.
I had heard about this story already, but like you I found no link to Mike Hatch. Also, although I don’t necessarily agree with sending him back to Somalia since they have no government, technically they are doing everything legally and being sent back to Somalia does not necessarily mean he will die. The way you had stated it earlier I was under the impression that he was wanted in Somalia for execution, in which case he could have attempted to apply for political asylum if it fit. Anyway, the only link I could find that linked both “Somalia” and “Mike Hatch” was that Mike Hatch was the Somalialand U.S.A. representative and participated in the 2006 Somilialand Day, which sounded positive to me.

*heh* Yep, I found the same one – certainly doesn’t seem like the Somali community is overly pissed at him.
