Ok, I’m alive, just swamped.
I got back from Seattle last Thursday.
First of all, wow. I’ve already conveyed to my manager and owner that they need to open up a remote office in Seattle.
I normally hate business travel and it suffered from all the usual problems, but I was fortunate enough to have some advice on pubs to look up and went to Kells in Pike Place on Monday night which ended up being a cool traditional Irish pub. Lively social and political discussions between shots set to a backdrop of a musician playing melancholy Irish ballads. Home away from home.
Wednesday night was the Owl & Thistle which was a great place to eat, drink, and listen to music. I went down with coworkers and one of the other vendors, so I didn’t interact with the locals too much. Lots of sarcastic humor in the air, which was good too.
Oh yeah, we did some work and came home.
This last week has been pretty intensely busy. This, compounded with the fact that my home phone is more or less down and the DSL line is flaky at best, has prevented me from posting much.
I’ve been scrambling trying to get some work done for my freelance gig. This has resulted in not much sleep and lots of stress. Joy’s been pretty patient through the whole thing, although she’s got a lot going on with her trial week at work.
The formal this weekend was pretty cool, although we’ve deterimined that dance lessons would be a Good Thing(TM). I had a lot of fun, although it was somewhat marred by an unfortunate phone call on the way home.

Band practice went pretty well and helped me blow off some steam. We got some progress on our two new songs, but it’ll take some effort to have them ready for our gigs next Thursday and Friday.
Also, my parents are coming up to visit tomorrow and will be staying until Sunday. It’ll be nice to see them.
Oh yeah, tomorrow night is the Rubber Ball at Ground Zero. Big event, open late. I’m going to be tired on Friday. I hope nothing stressful happens ’cause I’ll be pretty low on reserves (actually, I already am).
Balance, grasshopper, you must achieve balance.
Various other things have been going on, but I’m going to skip most of it for now as I’m still more or less under the gun.
I want my new motorcycle.
